#BuildAKL Four Week’s Paid Work Placement Competition

Terms and Conditions

By expressing an interest in, and in applying to be selected for, admission to this Competition, applicants are deemed to have read, understood and accepted the following terms and conditions:

  1. Competition, entries, and selection
    1. The Competition is for the Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development Limited ("ATEED") #BuildAKL 4 weeks' paid summer work experience ("Competition"). The Competition is for up to 10 paid summer work experience placements, each for a period of four weeks from mid-January to early February 2017, with a company in the construction and infrastructure industry in Auckland, administered by AWF.
    2. To be selected for admission to the Competition, applicants must apply by expressing their interest in a four week paid work experience placement. Applicants must either register their interest using the form on the #BuildAKL website, during the registration period which will be between 21 September and 12 November 2016 or register in person at one of the three ‘Be on the Team’ competition entry events in early November  2016.
    3. During November 2016 shortlisted applicants must undergo a typical recruitment process with AWF (and must agree to undergo pre-employment tests and checks). The top 20 applicants ("Entrants") will then be selected based on them meeting AWF employment criteria, and having attributes required for the work experience role placements, to enter into and participate in the Competition. Details of the Entrants will be announced by ATEED on or around 21 November 2016.
    4. The Entrants will then be publically profiled through the #BuildAKL website and through social media. ATEED, with AWF and in consultation with the #BuildAKL partners, will select the final winners based on their eligibility and match with the available paid work placements.
    5. The winners of the 10 paid work experience placements will be announced by ATEED on 5 December 2016, and AWF / ATEED will contact the winners to make arrangements for taking up the paid work experience prizes.
    6. If a Competition winner cannot be contacted, or does not accept the paid work experience prize, within 48 hours, ATEED will be able to select another winner.
    7. ATEED's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
    8. Every participant warrants that all information submitted is true, current and complete. ATEED reserves the right to disqualify any participant who does not comply with these terms and conditions.
    9. The Competition is open to members of the public, aged between 16 and 24 years, who are permanent residents of New Zealand, and reside in Auckland with a supportive family member / caregiver at the time of application for entry into the Competition. A person can only apply for entry into the Competition once, and multiple applications will result in an applicant being disqualified. Applicants aged between 16 and 18 years who are shortlisted must have the permission of their parent/guardian before progressing to the final selection.
  2. Prizes
    1. There are a total of up to ten work experience placements to be won.
    2. The work experience prizes are subject to the following terms:
      • Winners must comply with the conditions of their AWF employment contract during the four week work experience placement
      • Winners must actively participate in the #BuildAKL competition on social media based on the support and guidance they receive from the campaign manager, and in line with the #BuildAKL social media guide (moderation framework)
    3. The work experience prizes are not redeemable for cash, are not transferable to any other person, and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or promotion.
    4. If the work experience prize becomes unavailable (for any reason), ATEED reserves the right to limit entry, amend or cancel the work experience placement in its own and sole discretion.
  3. Privacy
    1. The information provided by applicants will be used to contact the shortlisted applicants, the Entrants, and the winners. In addition, all applicants consent to ATEED using their names and information provided for promotional purposes. Promotional purposes include information about news, services, campaigns, special offers, events and competitions that we believe will be of interest to The Entrant. 2. The Entrants and the winners also consent to participate and co-operate as required in all promotional activities relating to the Competition and the #BuildAKL campaign.
    3. All information provided by the applicants will be collected, used, stored, disclosed and corrected in accordance with the Privacy Act 1993. All applicants have the right to access their information and request that any of their personal information be corrected.
  4. Exclusions
    1. The following persons are not eligible to win any prize:
